Biography
Iryna was born in the picturesque tourist town of Lviv in Western Ukraine; she is trained as a Pattern Cutter and Designer having studied both in the Ukraine and at Ravensbourne College of Design in London, where she graduated with her BA (Hons). She has over 15 years experience in fashion, design, dressmaking and pattern cutting; and develops garments using flat pattern cutting, draping and the Gerber software system.
Much of her talent has been developed working for high-end London fashion labels, many of which are household names, such as Temperley, The Collection and Universal Utility
Although designing and developing beautiful garments is a way of life to Iryna, she is also passionate about developing young talent. To this end she co-ordinates a graduate intern program at Temperley. Iryna also sits on the Industrial Committee of London College of Fashion and was visiting lecturer at Uxbridge College where she ran workshops on dressmaking and pattern development.
Iryna has travelled extensively and her appreciation of vastly different cultures has influenced many of the designs she has developed. Iryna is fluent in English, Ukrainian, Polish and Russian.
“Our mentor Iryna took the time to first find out our specific ambitions and really focus sessions by making us specify our plans for the future…She was very thorough and took these sessions very seriously…this really made me feel that she cared about my individual progression…I have learnt so much from this session and didn’t realise how helpful and giving a mentor could be, I would recommend the FirstMove programme to anybody who needs some guidance in the scary world of work.”
